On Saturday the Canowindra A Grade travelled to Grenfell in round 4 of the SportsPower Cup. Grenfell won the toss and elected to bat first and with some late players it looked to be a hard day for Canowindra. Grefell got off to an ideal start 3-131 at drinks after 20 overs with Nick Traves getting 1 wicket and G. Singh getting 2 wickets before drinks. After, Grenfell contained scoring runs but with good bowling. Late in the innings Canowindra bowled the home side out for 232 with 4 bowlers sharing the wickets. Nick Traves 3-53 off 7.3 overs, Brendan Traves 1-50 off 8 overs, Pete Guthrie 3-44 off 7 overs and G.Singh 3-43 off 8 overs. Matt Mclean bowled as well for no wicket. At change of innings Ben Schaefer and Pete Guthrie opened the batting for Canowindra, getting their side off to the best start with an opening partnership of 139 from just 13 overs before Schaefer fell for 87runs! Captain Brendan Traves joined Pete Guthrie at this crease but shortly after Guthrie was dismissed for 42 runs and B Traves joined him a few overs later.
