The famous Craft Shop in Gaskill St is calling for new volunteers to ensure the longevity of the store.
The group of voluntary members have been running the store for than 40 years and are currently looking for new members to volunteer in the shop. Many of the current members are over 75 years of age and are wanting to cut back their hours.
The Craft Shop provides the local Canowindra community with freshly baked goods, eggs and honey, handicrafts, children’s toys, indoor plants, wool and haberdashery and over the years the not-for-profit business has given back over $25,000 to the Canowindra community.
The group are currently looking for new members to either volunteer in the shop (you don’t have to be crafty) or to provide new crafts and ideas to the store to keep things interesting for the shoppers.
“It would be a shame to see it close, I enjoy volunteering here as it is like a social outing for me,” said President Lorna Cassidy.
“I have been a volunteer here for 30 years, I love the social side of it, it isn’t hard to do and I find it interesting,” said member Bev Wilson.
The store is currently open Monday- Friday from 9am to 4.30pm and from 9am to 12.30pm on Saturday’s. If you are interested in joining the group or volunteering please call in to the store in Gaskill St!
