Council Adopts Plan Worth $22 Million

9 July, 2020 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

A significant capital works program has underpinned the 2020/2021 financial year’s Operational Plan at Cabonne Council. The plan, worth $22 million, was adopted at Council’s ordinary meeting on 23rd June 2020.

Keeping in line with Cabonne’s commitment to community, a significant portion of the Operational Plan has been dedicated to community interest projects.

Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty has said that improving community facilities is of the highest priority to Council. “Providing safe and modern facilities to the region is a way for Council to provide a significant boost to our local services and communities.”

Included in these community interest projects are the recently announced Building Better Regions projects. Federal MP Andrew Gee was joined by Mayor Kevin Beatty and several Cabonne Councillors last Thursday in travelling around the shire to announce the considerable federal funding which will be matched by Cabonne Council for the following projects:

• Construction of Eugowra Multi-Purpose Community Centre
• Eugowra Medical Centre Redevelopment
• Tom Clyburn Oval, Canowindra Lighting Upgrade
• New Amenities Block at Molong Showground
• Molong Recreation Ground Lighting Upgrade
• Cudal Showground Power and Water Upgrades

These projects, as well as the continuation of the design process for the Cabonne Community Centre and Library at Molong are just some of the exciting community endeavours for the Cabonne region, commencing in the next financial year. In addition to this, a remarkable $6.9 million has been dedicated to local and regional road construction, a further $390,000 will be put towards footpaths, kerbs and guttering, and an impressive $830,000 will be dedicated to water and sewer fund infrastructure and projects.

“In framing this budget, the council has ensured that all existing services will be maintained at current levels and no services will be discontinued,” Cr Beatty said.
