Are you concerned about the safety of the children in Canowindra who use the Tilga St crossing on their way to and from School? This Friday morning from 8.30am all parents, grandparents, family, friends and community members are asked to join the Canowindra Public School P&C and St Edward’s Primary School P&F for a community rally.
The Tilga St crossing, situated between both schools is poorly marked, hard to see, difficult to use and completely unsafe. With a number of near misses reported recently with children and trucks and or cars the time to act is now!
“We are concerned for our kids safety, and trying very hard to prevent the inevitable,” said Mrs Mandy Townsend, President of St Edward’s P&F.
All students and parents/carers are encouraged to walk to school this Friday 15th March and use the Tilga St crossing in their route. After students have been walked to school, parents/carers and community members are encouraged to gather out the front of St Edward’s Church to voice their concerns with visiting politicians and local media.
Any student using the Tilga St crossing at this time on this day, must be accompanied by an adult and all pedestrians must adhere to the children’s crossing safety guidelines. Please wait at the crossing for vehicles in both directions to stop before you cross Tilga St.
