Canowindra Historical Society and Museum Incorporated is a non-profit located at 117 Gaskill Street (adjacent to the Age of Fishes Museum). Our society and museum was founded in 1967 and since then has been entirely run and operated by volunteers. We collect, preserve, display and document objects associated with the district’s history.
Volunteer roles options include archives, item and regional research, family history research, scanning, organising photographs and documents, preservation and organising publications and textiles, displays and objects, computer operations and data entry, grant searches and applications, general tidying and cleaning, welcoming visitors, sharing local knowledge, active committee members, contributions at meetings, maintain presentation of grounds, machinery and yard displays, assisting or organising guest speakers, participating in available training days to better equip volunteers, assist in specialised projects and more. There are many areas of interest available, some in person, selected days or remotely.
