The small committee that has been responsible for coordinating the Christmas Day Lunch for the last few years has reached a crisis point. Most of the members will be absent from the district over Christmas and unable to organise the event. However, if there are some willing community members who are interested in assisting either as volunteers, or in the preparation for the day, the lunch can still go ahead.
The Christmas Day Lunch began a few years ago, enabling members of the community who are lonely or struggling to share a meal with others. There are several people who assist in the background with food preparation, setting
tables at the Canowindra Bowling Club, providing musical entertainment and serving those who are guests for the day. This won’t be possible unless there is a coordinator to help everything run smoothly. It would be a shame to see this community activity die due to lack of support.
A committee meeting will take place on Friday 27 November at 2pm in the Canowindra CWA rooms on Blatchford Street. We would love to have you with us to discuss the future of this event. Contact Marion Wilson on 6344 1716 or Jenny Middleton on 6344 1184.
