Ever wanted a white Christmas? Well now you can!

Canowindra is celebrating Christmas in July with many shop windows displaying Christmas decorations and local businesses putting on Christmas meals and specials. Christmas in July is celebrated to mimic the northern hemisphere white Christmas as July is often our coldest month. Although it rarely snows in Canowindra the weather is certainly cool enough. Christmas in July allows you to have a traditional roast meal while rugged up next to your fireplace, as well as enjoying some Christmas pudding, that will warm you up on a July winters day.

With Christmas in July already kicking off, Canowindra saw over 1500 visitors over the weekend from all around the district including as far as Dubbo. Everyone was wrapped with the display of decorations. Children were entertained by spotting different things in the window displays as the parents could relax by having a coffee or two. It is the perfect combination to do something in the school holidays as it keeps all members of the family happy. The great thing about Christmas in July in Canowindra is that the whole town have become involved with specials from shop to shop.

There are savings everywhere to be made. Design to be different and pop into K&H Interiors and Design to save 20% off all retail stock in store. Continue across Gaskill Street to Saffi with 30% off all stock storewide where you may find some essential winter warmers for the festive celebrations. The Canowindra Trading Post have brand new Christmas decorations in stock now, so get in quick this year to avoid the stress and delays.

What’s on this Christmas

If you’re looking for some delicious festive food be sure to secure your spot at Tommy’s Christmas in July held at the Royal Hotel on the 26th July. With only 10 tickets left get in quick so you don’t miss out.

The Old Vic Inn also has a delicious 3 course meal on offer on Saturday the 19th. With spatchcocks and honey-glazed ham for a main you will sure to enjoy it. Or if you’re looking to enjoy a beverage try out the Royal Hotels hot apple cider with a dash of rum every Friday and Saturday night throughout July.

Why celebrate Christmas in July? When asking Tommy Jeff’s why he likes to celebrate Christmas in July he said “It’s a wonderful time of the year where you can celebrate Christmas without the stress. It’s a time of the year where you can enjoy that lovely warm feeling of open wood fires, delicious food and the company of friends and family. You can’t help but be in a good mood even if the weather says different.”
