It has been a big two weeks for the Central West Throwers with championship events being held. The Country Championship was held at Dubbo from 20th – 22nd January. The 17 athletes who attended the event brought home 17 gold medals, 10 silver medals and four bronze medals with four personal bests and one meet record.
From 27th – 29th January, seven athletes travelled to Canberra for the ACT under 20’s and Open Championships. Zoe Daniels kicked off the medal tally on Friday afternoon with a gold medal in the u20’s discus. Saturday saw Lilly Hewitt receive a bronze medal in the open shot put. Then on Sunday it was Emily Thomas’ time to shine in the U20’s hammer. Despite throwing up an age group, Emily managed a 3-metre personal best, throwing 41.71m and taking home the silver medal. In the men’s open hammer, in a very tough competition, Damien Wells finished with the bronze medal.
