Mycology May is a great time to get out mushroom hunting and the Central Tablelands is a fantastic place for fungi lovers.
There’s a diverse array of species to be found in our Box Gum Grassy Woodlands.
Join Mid-Lachlan Landcare for a two-part adventure into the fascinating world of fungi on their Fungi Foray and Pottery Workshop, being held on Friday 23 May at Raintree Marra, 730 North Logan Road, Cowra.
In the morning the experienced team from Mid Lachlan Landcare will lead you on an immersive fungi foray amongst the trees of the box gum grassy woodlands around Cowra/ Conimbla. Along the way you will learn more about the role fungi plays in ecosystem health and experience life as a citizen scientist by participating in a fungi survey.
After the walk, head to Raintree Marra for a light lunch followed by an afternoon crafting mycologically-inspired pottery. Tune into your creative side while crafting your very own fungi-inspired pinch pot, platter or figurine while enjoying the company of your fellow mycophiles. Your pottery will be fired and glazed after the event.
The Fungi Foray will run from 10am – 12 noon, with the meeting point to be adviced (weather dependent). Enjoy a light lunch at Raintree Marra at 12.30pm, followed by the pottery wrokshop from 1pm- 3.30pm.
Participants are encouraged to bring along weather-appropriate clothing including enclosed shoes and a water bottle for the walk, and an apron or old shirt for the pottery workshop.
