Explore the beautiful Noojee Lea homestead gardens and enjoy High Tea to celebrate 100 years of the CWA.
The Country Women’s Association of NSW is celebrating its centenary this year.
The Canowindra Branch of the CWA will mark this official occasion by hosting 150 guests to High Tea under the wisteria arbour at Noojee Lea Homestead.
“The original Country Women’s Association was focussed on fighting isolation and the lack of health facilities for women, babies and older children,” said Betty Jenkins, President of the Canowindra CWA.
CWA members began setting up baby health centres, funding bush nurses, build- ing and staffing maternity wards, supporting hospitals, schools, rest homes and holiday getaways for rural and remote families. With this opportunity women were able to meet, talk, share tea and discuss their fundraising and other issues.
“These rural women were warriors. They were dedicated to making rural and regional NSW a better place for the people who lived there. For 100 years the members of the CWA of NSW have contributed to grow, support women and families and be lobbyists for regional people,” said Betty Jenkins.
Mr and Mrs Charles Curran, kindly offered the beautiful Noojee Lea homestead and gardens as the venue for the high tea event.
Guests will be able to wander the grounds and explore the garden surrounding the historic Noojee Lea homestead. This event will be an afternoon of welcomes, fun, garden wanders and scents, conversations, friends and connecting with the community. Everything that Canowindra is good at.
“Guests will be greeted at the entrance before claiming a welcome drink. Everyone will have the opportunity to explore the garden before being seated to enjoy a feast of tiny morsels and sipping real tea from old world china,” Mrs Betty Jenkins said.
The High Tea event will take place on Saturday 10th September with the garden gate swinging open at 1.30pm until 4 pm with High Tea being served at 2pm. Cost is $60 per person and tickets can be purchased online at www.123tix.com.au
