Catholic Schools Week 2018

28 February, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

ST EDWARDS PRIMARY SCHOOL CANOWINDRA
The St Edwards Primary School in Canowindra are excited about next week’s Catholic Schools Week when all students, teachers and families will celebrate all of the great things about the school.

Some of the planned activities include:
• Monday 5th March – 2pm Catholic Schools Week Liturgy
• Tuesday 6th March – Unveiling of ‘LEGENDS of LEARNING’ Wall Display
• Friday 9th March – 10am School Assembly followed by a morning tea at 11am where parents are asked to bring a plate to share. There will also be Open Classrooms from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

With the amazing improved facilities that were put in place in 2016 at the School with new classrooms and learning facilities it really is
worthwhile in taking the time to visit the school and see the great work being done by both the teachers and students at this small school. Principal Ken McNamara and Staff are always on hand to give prospective families a tour of the school.

ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL EUGOWRA
The spirit of learning of love and truth permeates the school environment and is the essence of our daily lives at St Joseph’s Eugowra.
Students and staff are involved in a range of activities that encourage the development in all areas of the children’s lives.

In 2018, we have an enrolment of 30 students with three permanent teachers and support staff, which enables an excellent quality of teaching in small focused groups. This year’s theme for Catholic Schools Week is Blaze New Trails, which reflects the call from Pope Francis to young people to be creative, courageous and confident as they respond to the gospel call to be active of the transformation in their family, school and the world.

We will celebrate the knowledge, skills and attributes of our young students by holding an Activities Morning on Thursday 8th March from 10.30-12.30, check the Facebook Page for more information.

ST RAPHAEL’S CATHOLIC SCHOOL COWRA
The Bathurst Diocesan theme for the 2018 Catholic Schools Week is “Blaze New Trails”. This theme is very fitting for the journey that St Raphael’s, Cowra has embarked upon in the past few years with 2017 seeing the first Year 12 class graduate from St Raphael’s Catholic School.

The students in the Secondary department are able to select their course of study from a wide range of available subjects. St Raphael’s offers students the opportunity to complete VET qualifications in hospitality and construction. The school boasts small class sizes, which offers an individual and contemporary approach to learning.

The school offers access, for all students Kinder to Year 12, to state of the art facilities including science laboratories, art room, hospitality spaces, TAS classroom and a variety of general purpose classrooms. With 2018 well underway St Raphael’s Cowra is certainly on its way to “Blaze New Trails” this year.

Catholic Schools Week Events – All are welcome to attend!
• Saturday March 3rd – Commissioning Mass 6pm
• Monday March 5th – Catholic Schools Week Assembly 10am in St Raphael’s Church
• Tuesday March 6th – K-12 Picnic Lunch 1pm

RED BEND CATHOLIC COLLEGE FORBES
Red Bend Catholic College is a co-educational day and boarding school situated in Forbes. Red Bend has a proud heritage. Prior
to 1977, the Catholic education of students in this region was provided by three secondary schools; Our Lady of Mercy College, Forbes; Our Lady of Mercy High School, Parkes; and Marist Brothers’ College, Forbes.

In February 1977, these three schools combined to form one co-educational High School, with the name of Red Bend Catholic College, at the site of the former Marist Brothers’ College, on the banks of the Lachlan River. This merger, as symbolised on the College Crest, brought together the great teaching traditions of the Mercy Sisters and the Marist Brothers.

Since that time, the College has expanded in numbers, in teaching areas, and in facilities. The boarding residences, the swimming pool, the Multi-Purpose Hall and Performing Arts Centre, and the Design and Technology Centre have complemented the strong characteristic features of the main College building. These days the College educates 740 students and offers 150 boarding
places.

Red Bend Catholic College will hold their annual Open Day on Sunday 11th March from 11am to 2pm. Guided tours will be running on the day and prospective families will have the chance to meet the Principal and Staff. For more information call the College on 6852 2000.
