The unveiling of the Blue Plaque on the Old Vic Inn recognising one of Canowindra’s pioneering women, Bessie Robinson.
More Blue Plaques have been installed around NSW as part of the popular NSW Blue Plaques program, including one recognising Canowindra’s very own Elizabeth Jane (Bessie) Robinson; businesswoman, developer and advocate for quality public education.
Minister for Heritage James Griffin said the latest four Blue Plaques installed were in Canowindra, Hay, Wagga Wagga and Camperdown.
“These three regional plaques installed over the last week celebrate individuals who played important roles in the development of our regional towns,” Mr Griffin said.
So far, 21 Blue Plaque recipients have been named, and the NSW public will be invited to nominate more noteworthy people, stories and events when a second round of nominations opens soon.
