The Tigers are on the lookout for more youth league players for the 2016 Woodbridge Cup season. At this stage unfortunately its touch and go if the Tigers will have the numbers to field a team. Canowindra have fielded a side in this competition every season since it was introduced in 2009 so it would be a shame if we didn’t pull one together for this year. The Woodbridge Cup
Youth League competition has 6 confirmed starters in Grenfell, Manildra, Binalong, Trundle, Condobolin, and Peak Hill.
With Eugowra and Canowindra to confirm teams in the coming weeks. All clubs are excited about having eight sides in the competition, up from 5 in 2015. The Youth Competition is for under 18s, with a minimum amount of players that turn 19 after June 30th 2016 allowed to play in the competition. Canowindra have seen a real benefit of fielding youth league sides as a pathway to players coming through to 1st grade. Since 2011, each season the majority of players in the 1st grade squad have played youth league with the Tigers. Any intending youth league players for the Tigers are urged to attend training on Wednesday or Friday Evenings at 6:30pm to confirm numbers. If you are unable to attend and still wishing to play, contact Assistant Coach Barry Traves on 0428 753 497.
