Coaches for the Canowindra Rugby League Football Club for the 2021 Centenary Year: First Grade Kevin Grimshaw, Youth League Cal Clyburn, League Tag Mick Vitnell.
The Canowindra Tigers were to celebrate 100 years of history last year until COVID-19 intervened. A decision was made by all interested parties to hold the event this year.
Instead, the celebration will take place this year on Friday 7 May, Saturday 8 May and Sunday 9 May.
On Friday Night, a muster will be held at the Canowindra Bowling Club. On Saturday, three big games of rugby league will be played at Tom Clyburn Oval . Opponents are likely to be Eugowra or Cargo and these details will be firmed up when the Woodbridge Cup Draw is known. On Saturday night, dinner will be held at the Canowindra Services Club. Admission will be $10 per head and social distancing and other necessary COVIDSafe regulations will be enforced. A recovery will be held on Sunday 9 May.
It was disappointing that the centenary celebration event could not be held during the centenary year but all around the world similar action was taken with other major events after a year no-one will forget. The Canowindra Tigers are committed to a top year this season and hope that celebrating the club’s heritage will lift the spirits of both players and followers alike. The club has made a positive step to lift the stocks of depth and quality. A huge response to the celebration is anticipated by the willing and active general committee of the club.
