The Tigresses consolidated 5th place on Sunday with a hard fought win 12-10 against Trundle. Kath Davis had a great game and received the 3 points and players player award. 2 points went to Keira Whatman and 1 point to Katie Baker.
The first grade Tigers looked promising early and went to a 2-0 lead 5 minutes into the game but unfortunately they failed to complete their sets of six and continued to give Trundle field position and back to back sets. Trundle haven’t been defeated this year and the Tigers just gave them too much possession in the first half.
At half time Trundle led 22-2 and after scoring the first try in the second half went to a lead of 26-2. The Tigers started to have more ball in the middle stages and played to their potential which resulted in 4 tries to have the home side under pressure.
An unlucky call from the officials stopped the Tigers from scoring another try which would of levelled the scores. Trundle scored late and a field goal to run out winners 37-24. Great from the Tigers who had only 2 reserves for the day due to work commitments.
Montrose House Players Player went to Nathan Whatman with his best game of the year which he also received the 3 points. Two points to Steve Tahere and 1 point to Frazer Ryder and Amone Moeakiola.
This week the Tigers are at home to Peak Hill on Saturday. The club would like to wish Callum Clyburn all the best and we are with you all the way mate.
