Juniors
The Canowindra juniors were unlucky on Saturday against the competition leaders Cowra, going down 20 to 16. The Tigers opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Archie McDonald with a run away try converted by Tyler Burn. In the tenth minute Cowra scored which was converted to even the scores. Cowra dominated in the next 12 minutes scoring two converted tries to have a solid lead of 18- 6.
After the break the young Tigers started a fight back, in the 31st minute scoring a try by Tyler Burn but wasn’t converted to trail 18-10. Cowra scored in the 43rd minute, 2210 lead. The Tigers were playing the best footy at this stage and Archie MacDonald scored his second try converted from the sideline by Tyler and the Tigers only trailed by six points. The Tigers had the 50/50 calls go against them but they looked dangerous and gave Cowra a good scare, just holding out to earn the win. The juniors play in Eugowra next week at 10am Sunday.

This was a very even game and the result was in the balance until the final minutes.
The scores were all even at the break, 10 all but shortly after the Kate Price scored a well constructed try to lead 14-10. With ten minutes remaining, a Cowra player slipped through the Tigeresses defence to score under the post and Cowra led 16-14. The Canowindra girls were throwing everything at Cowra defence but they held strong and after some constant pressure finally broke through to seal the game 20-14.
The girls have a bye this week and look like they will finish in sixth place.
First Grade
What game of rugby league! There was nothing in it at the break, with Cowra holding a slight lead 12-10. Cowra scored early
and then John Grant went over and in the 41 minute Andrew Bennet followed a kick and picked up the spoils to score converted by Rob Burn 10–6. Cowra hit back in the 38th minute to take the lead 12-10.
In the second half it was all Canowindra with powerful running from all forwards tiring the Cowra defences and the backs capitalised. Jaye Fumaono broke through out wide to lead 14-12. Ryan Clarke swooped on a long pass beat two defenders and score in the corner, which Burns converted to stretch the lead to 22-12. A player from both sides spent 10 in the bin, then in the 60th minute Deegy Mariner weaved his way through the defence to score under the post which was converted 28-12 lead. Cowra scored a late try in the 72nd minute but the Tigers moved the ball across the backline to Josh Cooney to score to have the score 32-16. The Tigers were the far the better of the two teams and have locked in fourth place.
The Tigers have bye this week and likely to play the first semi in Oberon.
