Canowindra Tigers

11 May, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Canowindra Tigers travelled to Trundle on Sunday, May 7th in very cold conditions. Unfortunately, luck didn’t go with the Tigers and Trundle came away with wins in both grades.

In league tag, the Canowindra girls started well, scoring first to lead 6 – 0 and then after that it was all Trundle going to a lead of 26 to 6 at the break.Tigeresses didn’t have the same steel in defence as in previous weeks to slow the trundle onslaught.

The second half was completely different with Canowindra playing the best footy. Jade Harding was outstanding in attack and defence. It was a gallant effort in the second half with Lillian Harrison, Kelly Price and Maddie Barrett having strong games. The full-time siren came too quick for the girls and couldn’t bridge the gap going down 26 points to 20.

Best and fairest three points and players playerwent to Jade Harding, two points Lillian Harrison, and one point to Kelly Price.

In first grade, a change of players in different positions, saw the Tigers put up a giant effort going down 22 points to 14 after leading for most of the match.

It was a gallant effort from the boys and they should be very proud of themselves for their effort nearly pulling off a magnificent win.

Lastly, a big thank you for Ben Schaffer, Moey Birmingham and James Wythes for travelling to Trundle to help the Tigers.

This week is a group bye.
