Youth League
The Youth League side will face the minor premiers Manildra at Trundle after winning their game on Sunday. The young Tigers started the game a little slow but as the game progressed the Tigers gained more intensity in their play and finished the stronger of the two sides. The Tigers had opportunity to score first points but due to some strong defence from Trundle were held out. Trundle were first to put the points on the board and lead six nil.
In the first half the Tigers gave away too many penalties but with encouraging words from coach Dan Middleton turned around in the second half and with seven minutes to go the Tigers scored a great conversion from Hayden Cummings to put the Tigers in front 16 points to 14 and this was the final score. They play next Sunday for a chance to go straight into the grand final.
First grade
The Canowindra Tigers didn’t carry on with the form of last week and went down to the strong Manildra side 42 points to 6. The score was no indication of how close the teams were with the defence on both sides at a high level.
Manildra lead at half time eight points to nil through one try and one penalty goal on the half time bell and a very exciting first half of rugby league.
The Tigers gave away too much possession to Manildra which resulted in repeat sets and put constant pressure on the Tigers defence. With 20 minutes remaining only trailing by 14 the Tigers did get down in the Manildra’s Redzone for Callum Clyburn to force his way over for a try from dummy half. Matt McLean to convert.
Unfortunately this was the only points for the Tigers and Manildra ran in tries in the last 15 minutes of the game to blow the score out.
First grade would like to congratulate the Youth League on their win and wish them all the best next week. Also I’d like to thank the League Tag girls for all the work they have done for the club this year.
