CANOWINDRA TIGERS

18 April, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Madden brothers were on fire on Saturday when the Tigers travelled to Peak Hill for the second round clash.

Tory Madden scored 3 tries in a man of the match performance earning 3 best and fairest points and players player.

Dan Madden scored a double one try from an intuitive quick tap catching Peak Hill off guard. His running game was strong and made him a handful for Peak Hill to pull down which earned him 2 Best and Fairest points.

Dave Hogan was a late inclusion to the line-up and was influential on the field with positive talk and straightening the attack with solid runs and earned 1 Best and Fairest point.

Marika played eyes up footy and scooted down an ill defended blind side to score a 50m try.

Tom Roth showed promise on his return to the Tigers scoring a try late in the game.

Alex Willson and Mick Clyburn laid the platform with a high work rate in attack and defence.

The game was scrappy with the wind zapping both teams energy as well as influencing passing and kicking options which frustrated Peak Hill in the second half.

Peak Hill led at half time 22-14. The Tigers regrouped at half time and Canowindra’s resilience and discipline allowing them to secure a well-deserved victory on the road.

The Tigresses went down but an improved performance by them with a score of 28-16.

Youth league had their first hit out and were too strong for the home side winning 42-10.
