Losing Jamie and Sammy Austin along with Craig Carpenter for the season, didn’t seem to phase Canowindra as they tossed aside an inept Magpies last weekend at Canowindra Oval.
Batting openers Nick and Brendan Traves attacked the Magpies bowlers from the start. A 131 run-partnership ending in the 20th over, when Brendan was dismissed for 46.
After drinks, Nick Traves continued his relentless assault, finally being dismissed by Ben Brown for a magnificent 123.
The young Canowindra team didn’t stop there, piling more misery onto Magpies. Shaun Craven hit 52 not-out along with Joe Coady 14 not-out, pushing the home side’s total to a massive 6 for 271 and a convincing 168 run victory.
