Canowindra Sunday Serenade

14 August, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Canowindra CWA will hold its annual fundraiser, Sunday Serenade at Canowindra All Saints Church on Sunday 8th September 2019.

This yearly event raises funds to support local school students further their love of music.

The Sunday Serenade started from an idea at a CWA meeting in 2013, to date 8 scholarships have been awarded with successful recipients using the scholarship for lessons in their respective choice of instrument – piano, guitar, saxophone or voice, either at the Orange Conservatorium of Music, or with private tutors which enables them to continue music tuition at a high level and use their musical talent to serve the community.

Any school aged person who attends school in Canowindra is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Application forms for the scholarship are available after the concert on Sunday 8th September at the local schools or at Canowindra Pharmacy, applications close at the end of October 2019.

Each year the award is judged by a small committee which includes an independent judge from outside the Canowindra area.

The Canowindra CWA Sunday Serenade concert is a showcase of local talent and provides an opportunity for local artists to gain performance experience, so come along and encourage our local upcoming artist.
