Fairy lights, Christmas Trees, Reindeers, Snowflakes and even Champagne were just some of the Christmas items on display for the annual Christmas in July Window Display Competition that has been running for the month of July in Canowindra. The Canowindra Phoenix sponsors the event each year and encourages local businesses to get involved and decorate their shop windows.
“This year we had a great prize donated by Lolli Redini Restaurant in Orange. A two course dinner for two people with a glass of sparkling wine on arrival.” said Sarah Maynard, Publisher of the Canowindra Phoenix. “It was so great to see over 10 businesses along Gaskill St get involved this year,” said Sarah.
Many visitors to town have commented on how great it looked especially at night time when all the fairy lights are on. The judges for this year’s event were Angela Ellis and Kylie Pull from the Canowindra Health Service. These lovely ladies gave up their time on Friday afternoon to walk the length of the street and judge each window individually. The ladies were given certain criteria to judge on – Creativity, Effort, Uniqueness and Theme with each section being judged out of 5 to give an overall score out of 20.
The winner was Debbie Guihot from The Plague and I with runner up being Dot Cain from Rockstar Clothing. A big congratulations
to both Debbie and Dot for their great window displays and to all the other businesses for participating.
