Canowindra Showground To Host Motorhome Rally

Geoffrey Beath, President of the Canowindra Showground and Racecourse Land Manager (CSRLM, formerly known as the Showground Trust), announced on Monday that Canowindra Showground has won the hosting rights for a huge campervan and motorhome rally to be held from 18-29 October this year.

“We expect around 250 motorhomes to attend, and that they will start to arrive in the district for up to a week before the rally and stay for several days after,” Mr Beath said.

“Having up to 400 visitors in town for an extended period will be of great financial benefit to our community,” he said.

The Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia Solos Network was formed in 1997 under the auspices of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia. It enables its members, scattered across Australia but with common interests, to meet for fellowship, camaraderie, support and education. Most members are retirees.

Mr Beath said the CSRLM is a volunteer, not for profit entity, with every cent it raises going back into the Showground precinct to maintain and improve the facilities that are so well used by the community.

“Events like the annual balloon festival – and now the Solos Rally – make a real difference for Canowindra, and the CSRLM is delighted to be able to support them.”

“We understand the Solos have already started approaching local service groups about things like catering, which is terrific.”

“Like so many Canowindra groups, a lot of the support CSRLM provides is handson, through the work of our wonderful volunteers, without whom it would not be possible for visitors to camp at our grounds, attend events, and contribute so much to the town’s economy.

“It’s really great that we can help, and we encourage our local businesses, service groups and the whole community to extend our famous Canowindra hospitality to our Solos visitors in October,” Mr Beath said.
