Last Wednesday Canowindra Show Society “Elves”, President Andrew Holmes and Secretary Sarah Cummings were very busy delivering early Christmas presents to the children of Canowindra.
The Elves visited the Canowindra Pre-School, Canowindra High School, Canowindra Public School and St Edward’s Primary School along with Family Daycare educators in town to deliver presents for the children. Canowindra P A & H Association applied to the RAS Foundation and Good360 Kitchen Goods and Christmas Toy Offer a couple of months ago and were very fortunate to be one of 31 Show societies that received numerous amounts of items to give to families in the area who may need a little help this Christmas. The items ranged from Toys, Cooler Bags, Melamine Tumblers, Bowl and Plate Sets, Shampoo, Mosaic Cups, Salad Bowls, Makeup Packs and Sipper Cups.
The RAS Foundation hopes this initiative will provide a boost, providing these communities with new items for continued use. The RAS Foundation along with the RAS Agricultural Development team sorted and organised over 1,000 boxes of goods worth over $450,000 for the 31 very appreciative show societies.
The Canowindra Show President Andrew Holmes said “Targeting the children was one way that we could see the items getting to those that may need a little help or “pick me up” in and around Christmas time.”
“When we approached all the Schools, they were overwhelmed with the gesture and very excited to receive such wonderful gifts,” said Mr Holmes.
Canowindra Pre-School President Nadine Daly said “The Canowindra Pre-School is so grateful to the Canowindra Show committee for such a beautiful gesture so close to Christmas.”
The Canowindra Show Committee would like to thank the RAS Foundation and Good360 for this wonderful gift and also would like to send out a special Thankyou to Tom Dwyer from Forbes who very kindly brought the items back from Sydney for us. The committee wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
