The game started with a fiery pace with the forwards involved in plenty of scrum activity. Ronnie Lawrence made several inroads through the Harden defence, aided by “hard man” Bowdy and “young bull” Hayden.
There were several attacking raids from Harden foiled by great defence out wide from the Argentinean connections. Some depth kicking from John Grant saw the Pythons cross out wide.
Due to repeated penalties the Pythons could not add further points for the half. Great defence from Wattie, Kenny and big hitting Dude saw the score level at half time. The second half reduced to a slug fest there wasn’t much further good news for the Pythons with the bench decimated through injuries including Alex Gavin with a dislocated knee.
Plenty of heart shown from the Pythons for what felt liked an extremely frustrating trip, final score 32-7. The next home game is this Saturday against Grenfell, kick-off 3pm.
