Canowindra Pythons

14 July, 2022 By Karly Bourke

The Canowindra Pythons team who played against Coonabarabran last Saturday.

The boys had a cracker game on Saturday against the Coonabarabran Kookaburras for Sponsors Day and Past Players Day with a large crowd gathering to watch.

The Pythons would like to thank all of the sponsors for 2022 and all the past players that came out to support and cheer on the Pythons!

The boys started out with a jersey presentation in the sheds and a pre-game talk from two of the clubmen Tony Grant and Pete Middleton.

The team started strong keeping Coona at their feet with a nil all score until 35 minutes then Coona scored with a break in the defence.

They were quick to score another try not long before half time bringing the score to 17-0 at half time.

In the second half a try scored by BenSchaefer and converted by Mick Howarth brought the score to 12-7. Then Coona came back with another try followed by a conversion.

It was a tough game but the boys kept pushing and Tim Somers broke through Coonas defence and scored a try.

The boys gave it to Coona with big hits and tough scrums, unfortunately the boys went down with the full time score being 36-12.Three points went to Cormac McHenry, two points went to Angus Fisher, one pointand players player went to Tim Somers.

The Pythons take on Geurie at Canowindra Oval this Saturday.
