Last Friday, 32 students from Canowindra Public School competed in Cowra at the district swimming carnival. All kids swam brilliantly with some exceptional results. 19 students have made it through to Western on Friday, 12 March at Dubbo, including four relay teams.
The junior girls relay team, consisting of Haylee Stanbury, Claire Pengilly, Lucy Neville and Ava Thornberry, smashed the previous record by a whopping 10 seconds, which had existed for 20 years.
Congratulations to Ava Thornberry who broke three individual records; the 10 years girls 50 metre freestyle, junior girls 50 metre backstroke and the junior girls 200 metre individual medley.
Ava Thornberry was also named junior girl champion. Will Swords was runner up junior boy champion, Nic Gordon was run-ner up 11 years boy champion and Jonty Bullock was runner up senior boy cham-pion.
Student Representative Council (SRC) leaders will be presented their badges at this Friday’s assembly. The SRC is peer-elected and composed of representatives from years 2 to 6. Members will attend meetings, collect ideas and provide feed-back to their peers.
Parent/teacher/student (3-way interviews) will be occurring in weeks 7 and 8. This is a great opportunity for parents, students and teachers to work together on students’ learning goals.
Two teams of students will be attending the Paul Kelly Cup in Orange on Wednesday. This is an AFL competition and the students have been training hard with Mrs Howard in preparation for the event.
