Canowindra Phoenix Celebrates 400 Issues

20 July, 2016 By editor

As the only free local weekly paper in Canowindra and surrounds it is certainly a milestone to be able to celebrate our 400th issue. Since taking over the Phoenix in November 2013 we have certainly evolved, a definite sign of that was being recognised with the runner up trophy as Business of the Year in Cabonne for the Daroo Awards.

We have grown in size and distribution now printing 1,300 copies each week, and with the paper available both on our Facebook page and on our website, there is no-one in the community who cannot access our publication. We are the local ‘go to’ paper, with details of everything that is happening in and around Canowindra and district, updates and photos of local events, farming updates and much more.

We also get involved at a sponsorship level with local sporting teams and this year hav sponsored the Canowindra Pythons and the Canowindra Walla Rugby, and in the past many other worthy causes. One of the highlights of each year is our International Women’s Day luncheon where a considerable amount of money is raised for a charity of note. We also support many local associations including the P&H Society Annual Show and the Balloon Challenge.

Of course none of this would be possible without the wonderful staff who work at the Phoenix, not only in Canowindra, but also in Forbes, Parkes and Hilltops. They are to be congratulated, as well as our loyal business supporters and of course our readers, who come from all parts of Australia. Without all of you, these weekly papers would not be possible. I thank you all.
