Netball in Canowindra has received a huge boost, with ANZ Bank announcing that Canowindra was one of the runners up in its Net Set Go Centre of the Year competition. Net Set Go is a modified version of netball aimed to teach young people the skills required in the sport, and was launched in Canowindra by the Cowra Netball Association, this year. The program has been running at the Canowindra Sports Oval each Friday afternoon.
Being a runner-up, ANZ awarded Canowindra Net Set Go a set of goal posts and a Net Set Go banner. Cowra Netball Association Net Set Go Coordinator Kristen Ryan has been in attendance at Canowindra Net Set Go, and said it was great to see the Canowindra community getting involved in local netball and the girls having a great time whilst improving their skills. New netball courts are also being built at the Canowindra Sports Oval.
“All the hard work and fundraising will provide the community with facilities to accommodate growth in netball in Canowindra,” she said. Net Set Go will finish on August 26 with a sausage sizzle and a presentation.
