Canowindra Men’s Bowls News

Last Saturday a Major Triples match was played, Max Baldwin, Mark Wright and Ian Nelder played Nick Delaney, Phil and Brent Lees. Ian’s team got off to a good start to lead the game 9-8 after 11 ends, after that Brent’s team took control to win the game 26-10.
Last Sunday a Semi Final of the Major Singles was played, with Vinny Mirto against Phil Lees. It was a marathon game going to 43 ends. After 23 ends Vinny had a comfortable lead at 19-13, after that Vinny lost the next 10 ends to give Phil the lead 25-19. Over the next 9 ends Vinny was able to fight back to level the scores at 30 all. Phil was then able to score a shot on the next end to win 31-30.
A Major Pairs match was played, with Ken Fisher and Ian Nelder against Peter Taylor and Roger Traves. Peter and Roger were able to combine well to lead throughout the game winning 26-17.

Saturday 3rd of June games:
Singles Final – I Nelder vs. P Lees, Marker V Mirto. Major Pairs – D Beath, B Lees vs. B Webb and J Preston. Minor Pairs – M McMullen, M Cramp vs. A Wyburn and T Bates.

Sunday 4th June games:
Major Pairs – R Traves, P Taylor vs. G Fairley and K Walker. Minor Triples – M McMullen, M Cramp, S Kirkman vs. A Wyburn, T and B Bates. Major Triples – T Mooney, S Fisher vs. V Mirto, P Kennedy, A Robson and M Lawrence.
The Canowindra Women’s Bowls are playing in Dubbo this week in a championship game. Social bowls was played on Tuesday and a report for the Women’s Bowls will be in next week.
