Six local Canowindra women have registered for this year’s Cargo 2 Grenfell Walk which will take place from the 7th – 9th March 2019 and will cover 96km over the three days.
Alison Stephens, Kerby Lawrence, Bron Newman, Kobie Rogers, Lorrae Barker and Fiona Baillie have all signed up for the challenge and have been training hard to ensure the three days run smoothly. Last Saturday morning the women all walked from Canomodine Lane back into Canowindra, which is about 13km for a training session.
This year the Cargo 2 Grenfell Fundraiser walk is raising funds for The Black Dog Institute and at the time of going to print the entire team had raised $9,660 of its $15,000 target.
One in five Australians are affected by mental illness each year. Mental illness can be overwhelming, crippling and isolating. The Black Dog Institute is dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of people affected by mood disorders.
The Black Dog Institute has 4 important goals: To diagnose mood disorders accurately and early, To treat them using innovative, effective and accessible strategies, To prevent their onset by understanding why and who they affect and To reduce the overall impact of mental illness and save lives.
Black Dog Institute’s vision is a world where the onset of depression and suicide can be prevented and treated.
