Canowindra has officially cemented its status as the ballooning capital of Australia following the spectacular conclusion of the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge. The nine-day festival wasn’t just a visual triumph in the skies; it was a digital powerhouse that put our town on the global map.
The sheer scale of engagement this year was unprecedented. Data insights from the event’s Facebook page reveal that the festival averaged more than one million views over a two-week period. For a town of our size, this level of exposure is a game-changer, showcasing the beauty of the Canowindra to a massive audience.
This digital success extended to the event’s official website, which is now ranked by Google as a high-performing site, ensuring Canowindra remains a top tier destination for travellers.
Perhaps the biggest “MVP” of the week was the Canowindra Live App. The app revolutionised the festival experience, with download numbers far exceeding initial expectations. Feedback from attendees was glowing, with many praising how easy it was to navigate launch sites and find their way to our local businesses. By bridging the gap between the morning launches to Gaskill Street and surrounds, the app ensured that the festival’s success translated directly into support for our local economy.
With record-breaking attendance and a town buzzing with energy, the volunteer committee aren’t wasting any time. They are thrilled to announce that the dates for next year have already been locked in.
Mark your calendars: the magic returns from April 17–26, 2027.
