Canowindra Food Basket Is Turning Ten!

10 October, 2019 By editor

Canowindra Food Basket will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this Friday

On Friday 11th October, the Canowindra Food Basket will celebrate 10 wonderful years of regular service to the Canowindra community. What began as a practical outreach of a home group of the co-operating Anglican and Uniting churches in Canowindra, has become a regular Friday service that distributes food, clothes, household items, a friendly chat and a cuppa.

The Canowindra Food Basket has registered approximately 495 households in Canowindra and the surrounding villages and is operated by 45 volunteers. Anyone with a Health Care Card, Pension Card or a referral from a support service can register with the Food Basket.

The Canowindra Food Basket would like to acknowledge and thank the local food outlets and business that have been supportive over the last 10 years. A wonderful addition to the Canowindra Food Basket is the partnership with the Canowindra Masonic Lodge, who through the Clothes Line project have provided clothes, shoes and household items.

Birthday celebrations will be held this Friday, 11th October, starting at 9:30am in the Uniting Church Hall. Everyone is welcome to come along, especially past and present clients and volunteers. For more information please contact the Co-ordinator, Lyn Rasmussen.
