From Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 July, 137 young beef industry enthusiasts, ranging from six to 25-years-old attended the 2025 Harris Farm Herefords Australia National Youth Expo at Exhibition Park, Canberra.
Over the four days these young cattlemen and women were given the opportunity to build their knowledge and understanding of the beef industry and of course, show what they’ve got in the competition ring including junior judging, paraders and heifer show.
This year in the paraders competition, 17-year-old Jack Smyth from Canowindra claimed the top gong, winning the grand champion paraderer.
Paraders judge Kate Schoen, Corowa said, “I think the sign of a really good parader is one that does not need to use their stick very much.”
“And I think my champion here today is a really good example of that. I feel like I’ve barely seen him use his stick. He knows how to use the animal, looks right every time, and that’s what got him into the champion today.”
However, it was not just the grand champion parader sash that Jack claimed at the event, but also the grand champion herdsman award. Congratulations Jack!
