Just some of the rubbish collected last Sunday.
The frosty early morning start did not deter keen anglers from turning up for the Canowindra Carp Muster last Sunday 20 July, with 70 pre-entries for the competiton plus at least 20 who registered on the day.
While the Carp were a little elusive, participants still ended up with a haul totalling around 50kg, which is now being turned into fertiliser by the team from Mid-Lachlan Landcare.
Throughout the day, the sun was shining and the community came together to take part in rubbish collection, with local families down along the river working alongside dedicated Council staff and community members to improve our waterways.
Community events such as this don’t happen without the support and hard work of many people. Thanks go to the hard-working team at Canowindra Connections Centre for championing the Carp Muster. To the Age of Fishes Museum for hosting the event and to Cabonne Council for sponsoring the day as part of its Youth Week activities.
Thanks to team at OzFish Unlimited for organising the competition and for Sean from OzFish who was fantastic on the day co-ordianting the activities. Thanks also to Tracee and Amanda from Mid Lachlan Landcare who were kept busy on the BBQ and to all of the volunteers who walked the river banks.
Landcare NSW and Oz Fish joined forces in 2020 to help improve waterways across the state. Better waters equal better fi shing and that’s something we can all get behind!
