CANOWINDRA MEN’S BOWLS NEWS
A mixed pairs game was played last Saturday with Brent Lees and Jo Davies against Terry and Di Mooney. Brent and Jo led
throughout the game to win the match 26-13. Another mixed pairs game was played last Sunday with Steve Kirkman and Di Slattery against Max Baldwin and Jean Roth. For the first half of the game, the scores were close with the game 20 all after 10 ends. For the rest of the game Steve and Di led to win the game 37-30. On Saturday October 1 there will be a Consistency singles semi final between R Traves and M Lawrence. The marker will be B Webb. In mixed pairs action C Webb and K Cox will play D Beath and J Middleton,
K Fisher and B Turner will play C and L Balcombe, and K Perry and L Miller will play R Lynch and S McDonald. If a bowler is drawn to play and unavailable to play, it is their responsibility to inform their opposing team members as well as the bowls secretary.
On Sunday October 2 there will be mixed mufti bowls, with names to be in by 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start. Mixed mufti bowls will continue on Thursday September 29 with names in by 1.30pm for 2.00pm start. All welcome. Bring a friend. Coming event- Sunday October 9- Mixed mufti triples day with players arriving at 9.00am for a 9.30am start. Two games of 15 ends will be played. The day is sponsored by BCIB Insurance. Winners will be awarded $180 and runners up will receive $120. The cost is $60 per team with lunch
included. If you have not already done so, arrange your team and put your names down at the club.
The Wednesday badge draw will be $200 and the Friday badge draw will be $1400. Bingo is on this Thursday at 11am.
CANOWINDRA WOMEN’S BOWLS NEWS
On Tuesday 27th September there was a handicap three bowl pairs, two consistency and two social triples games. In the first round of handicap three bowl pairs, Ellen Petty and Heather Hoad defeated Moyna Rue and Libby Balcombe 21-16. In the 3rd round consistency match, Margaret Gosper defeated Deanna Noble 156-114. The Marker was Joyce Middleton. The other consistency match saw Nancy Morrow defeat Colleen Crump 151-144. The marker was Joice McNaught. In social triples action, Shirley Robson, Bobbie Turner and Dianne Mooney defeated Linda Miller, Karen Cox and Betty Jenkins 17-13.
Diane Slattery, Penny Nash and Christine Pickard defeated Jeanette Wheeldon, Daph Bryant and Sandy McDonald 19-15. The Lucky Draw was won by Joyce Middleton with ticket number 3. After bowls action there was a tasty birthday lunch at the Canowindra Hotel to celebrate the September birthdays of Betty Jenkins, Radka Tatterson, Joy Beattie, Linda Miller and Sheryn O’Malveney. Twenty six members attended. President Betty made a very nice sponge cake with cream and strawberries, which was cut by Radka Tatterson, who turned the big 60 on 16th September.
