WOMEN’S BOWLS NEWS
There were three matches that were played on Tuesday, 6th September, with two consistency matches and one rose bowl match making for an entertaining day of bowls. In the second round of consistency, Betty Jenkins defeated Linda Miller 155-150, with Diane Slattery marking the match. With such a close score, it was a great match played by Betty and Linda.

In the other consistency match, Ellen Petty defeated Jo Davies 150-135, with Libby Balcombe marking the match. Petty was too strong in the end, and finished with a strong win.

Round two of rose bowl action saw Heather Hoad defeat Margaret Gosper. Joice McNaught was the marker for their match. Jill Messenger, Sandy McDonald and Dianne Mooney defeated Gwen Haydon, Gwen Haydon (playing two positions) and Sheryn O’Malveney 17-16. Gwen played the lead and second positions.

Shirley Robson, Deanna Noble and Nancy Morrow defeated Betty Hodge, Colleen Crump and Christine Pickard 20-12. The Lucky Draw was won by Betty Hodge with ticket number 18.

MEN’S BOWLS NEWS
Last Sunday a semi final of the O’Brien Cup was played with Steve and Duncan against Ron Lynch and Bruce. Ron and Bruce got off to a good start leading 18-12 after five ends, then Steve and Duncan were able to come back to level the score at 19 all after 12 ends. Although the scores were close for the rest of the game, Steve and Duncan were able to keep the lead to win the game 29-26. Steve and Duncan will now meet Max and Roger in the final.

This Saturday, September 10, mixed mufti bowls will be on, with names to be in by 1.00pm for a 1.30pm start. Prizes for winners and runners up will be available, depending on numbers.

Sunday September 11 will see Mixed pairs action. Owen and Jenny, Bruce and Eryn. Brent and Jo, and Terry and Di Mooney will face off. Nick and Ra , Duncan and Lorne, Matt McMullen and Marg, Tracey and Wendy Bates, Ken Perry and Linda, Ron Lynch and Sandy, Nigel and Betty Hodge, and Vinnie and Joyce will also meet. The format will be three bowls pairs with a 1.00pm start.

Mixed mufti bowls will continue on Thursday September 8 with names to be in by 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start. All are welcome, and please bring a friend. On Sunday October 9 there will be a mixed mufti triples bowls day. Players should arrive at 9.00am for a 9.30am start.

The event will be sponsored by BCIB Insurance. Two games of 15 ends will be played. Winners will be awarded $180 and runners up will receive $120. The cost will be $60 per team with lunch included.

The Wednesday Badge Draw will be $1,450 and the Friday Badge Draw will be $1,100. Bingo will be this Thursday 11am
