MEN’S BOWLS NEWS
Last Saturday a consistency singles game was played between Vinnie and Cyril. The scores were close throughout the game but Cyril was able to lead all the way to win 154-146. An O’Brien Cup match was also played with Max and Roger against Nick and Teddy. Nick and Teddy had a handy lead after 15 ends with the score being 23-17. Then the wheels fell off for Nick and Teddy losing the last six ends to give Max and Roger the game 26-23. Last Sunday an O’Brien Cup match was played with Ron Lynch and Bruce against Jono and Cyril. It was a closely contested game with the lead changing several times. Jono and Cyril scored three shots on the second last end to lead 27-24 but then Ron and Bruce scored four shots on the last end to win the game 28-27.

On Saturday September 3 there will be a mixed mufti turn around triples, with names to be in by 1.00pm for a 1.30pm start, with single nominations or teams of three. Prizes will be awarded for winners and runners up. All are welcome.

On Sunday September 4 the O’Brien Cup semi final will take place between S Kirkman, I Nelder, V R Lynch, and B Webb. The mixed mufti bowls will continue on Thursday September 1, with names to be in by 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start. All are welcome. Bring a friend.

WOMEN’S BOWLS NEWS
On Tuesday, August 30, the Rose Bowl Competition was played between Gwen Haydon and Joice McNaught, with Haydon winning 25-18. Three consistency competition matches were also played. Deanna Noble and Libby Balcombe faced off, with Noble just getting Sheryn O’Malveney and Daph Bryant also locked horns, with O’Malveney winning 153-152, while Di Slattery beat Jill Messenger on a forfeit.

Two social games of triples played with Sandy McDonald, Linda Miller and Margaret Gosper taking on Penny Nash (playing two positions) and Colleen Crump; and Ellen Petty, Moyna Rue and Christine Pickard playing Di Slattery, Betty Jenkins and Jo Davies. The first mentioned team in each match took the wins, with the score in the first game being 24-12, and the score in the second game being 16-11.
