MEN’S BOWLS

Last Saturday an O’Brien Cup match was played with Kevin Walker and Dool Beath against Cyril Webb and Tony Tuimauga where Kevin and Dool had a comfortable win.

Last Sunday the Minor Fours Final was played with Kevin Walker, Larry Nunn, Paul Markcrow and Tony Tuimauga against Garry Fairley, Ron Symons, Terry Mooney and Nick Delaney. After 13 ends it was anyone’s game with the scores being 11-10 in favour of Tony’s team. On the next end Nick’s team
scored five shots and this helped Nick’s team to maintain their lead for the rest of the game to win the final 22-18.

Saturday September 28: O’Brien Cup – S Kirkman and I Nelder v W Fisher and P Taylor.
Sunday September 29: Mixed Pairs – V Mirto and J McNaught v L Nunn and S Rye. M Wright and G Haydon v C Webb and K Cox. R Traves and B Jenkins v T and D Mooney.
Friday October 11: Social Triples Mixed Mufti Bowls sponsored by Bar Staff. Winners $120 Runners up $60. First 14 teams with entry fee being $15 per team. Turn Around Triples with names in by 6pm for 6.30pm start. One game of 15 ends.
Sunday October 20: Alan Wyburn (Westy) Presidents Day. 3 games of 12 ends. 9am rollup for 9.30am start. $75 per team includes Chinese lunch. Winners and runners up prizes and best end round prize.
Saturday October 12: Footy tipping party. 6pm for 6.30pm start. $25 for non tippers.

WOMEN’S BOWLS
Consistency match 3rd round played Tuesday 24th September: Joice McNaught def Jeanette Wheeldon 150-145. Gwen Haydon def Jennifer Middleton 150-140.
Rose Bowl 1st round played 22nd September Lorne Burgess def Betty Jenkins 25-17, Libby Balcombe def Dianne Mooney 25-13, Jenny Middleton def Radka Tatterson 25-23, Karen Cox won on a forfeit from Bobby Turner.
Social Matches: Joyce Middleton, Moyna Rue and Liz Thornberry def Shirley Robson, Leanne Stevenson and Colleen Crump 19-16. Karen Cox and Nancy Morrow def Julie  Wythes and Lorne Burgess 29-4.

The Taber Shield was played at Parkes on Thursday and it was won by Central Western District. Congratulations to Betty Jenkins who is now the President of the Central Western District Bowling Association. We had two teams of triples play at West Wyalong on the weekend – L Balcombe, D  Bryant and C Pickard and J Messenger, S McDonald and D Noble.

Matches set down for next week: Consistency Semis – D Noble v D Mooney – Marker L. Balcombe, G Haydon v J McNaught -Marker B Jenkins.
Rose Bowl: M Rue v L Miller – Marker L Thornberry, N Morrow v D Slattery – Marker L Stevenson, S McDonald v C Crump – Marker J Wheeldon.
