MEN’S BOWLS
Last Saturday an O’Brien Cup match was played with Kevin Walker and Dool Beath against Moose Cassidy and Peter Taylor. Kevin and Dool reached the lead after the third end 15-12 and then took control of the game winning 33-21. A Consistency Singles match was also played with Matt Cramp against Ron Symons. For the first half of the game the scores were close with Ron leading 88-87 after 11 ends. Matt was able to lead for the second half of the game winning 153-132.

Saturday November 3 – Consistency Singles – P McVicker v P Markcrow and Marker R Symons. B Webb v B Lees and Marker C Webb.

Sunday November 4 – O’Brien Cup – A Robson and D Watt v V Mirto and D Sargent. P Markcrow and Tony Tuimauga v G Fairley and R Symons. B Webb and S Fisher v A Wyburn and W Fisher.

Upcoming events:
Sunday November 4 – Live music supporting regional talent with Matt Arthur playing from 3pm to 6pm. This will be in conjunction with barefoot bowls and raffles and the restaurant will be open from 5pm.
Tuesday November 6 – 2018 Melbourne Cup. From 12noon. Bookings essential. $10 lunch specials. Sweeps. Best dressed prizes. Rockstar fashion parade.
Saturday November 10 – Ron “Gunner” Lynch Memorial Mixed Triples Tournament. Sponsored by Sue and Robert Lynch. $1,320 in prizemoney. Teams may be all females, all males or mixed. Play commences 9.30am. 3 games of 10 ends. $90 per team includes Chinese lunch.

WOMEN’S BOWLS
Results of matches played on Tuesday, 30th October.

CONSISTENCY SINGLES FINAL – Jenny Middleton defeated Jo Davies 156-114.

ROSE BOWL HANDICAP SINGLES 1st round. Liz Thornberry defeated Betty Jenkins 25-20. Colleen Crump defeated Christine Pickard 25-16. Nancy Morrow defeated Penny Nash 25-17. Thanks to the markers Deanna Noble, Diane Slattery, Gwen Haydon and Libby Balcombe.

There were 2 social games played. Jean Roth, Radka Tatterson and Dianne Mooney defeated Linda Miller, Sheryn O’Malveney and Kerri Palmer 25-15. Julie Wythes, Leanne Stevenson and Daph Bryant defeated Bobbie Turner, Jill Messenger and Marion Wilson 21-18.

A welcome to our visiting bowler Kerri Palmer from the Ingleburn Club, she said she had a most enjoyable morning with us. The Lucky Draw was won by Tracey Fitzgerald with No. 38.

Bowlers please note that our starting time for bowls has been changed, it is now 8.30am for 9 am start from 13th November. The profit from our very successful Fun Day held on Tuesday, 23rd October was to be donated to the Canowindra Hospital Auxiliary, and when the figures were all worked out, quite a large donation was made to the Auxiliary. A special thanks to all who supported the day so well.

There will be no bowls played on Melbourne Cup Day, we will enjoy our Melbourne Cup Party. Our bowlers may arrive at 11 am and the sweeps on the day will be available at the bar. Deanna Noble, Jill Messenger and Nancy Morrow will represent our club at the Forbes 70th Anniversary President’s Day being held on Wednesday, 31st October.
