MEN’S BOWLS

Last Saturday the minor fours final was played with Steve Kirkman, Garry Fairley, Phil Makin and Nick Delaney against Paul Markcrow, Tony Tuimauga, Kevin Walker  and Larry Nunn. Larry’s team took control early in the game winning the final 24-12.

A consistency singles match was also played with Alan Wyburn against Pat Kennedy. Alan led throughout the game winning 151-109. Last Sunday a semi-final of the major singles was played with Phil Lees against Vinnie Mirto. This was a closely contested game with the scores level at different times throughout the game. On the second last end Vinnie led 29-28 but Phil scored three shots on the last end winning the match 31-29. Phil now plays Tony Tuimauga in the final.

Saturday August 4 – Minor Pairs- N Delaney and P Markcrow v M McMullen and M Cramp. Consistency Singles – B Webb v L Nunn and Marker T Mooney. C Webb v P Taylor and Marker D Beath. B Lees v G Burrows and Marker A Wyburn. Z Lees v K Perry and Marker S Kirkman.

Sunday August 5 – Major Triples- D Watt, L Nunn and I Nelder v P Taylor, D Beath and R Traves. G Fairley, R Symons and P McVicker v S Kirkman, C and B Webb. Major Singles Final- T Tuimauga v P Lees and Marker M Lawrence.

The Canowindra Bowling Club Trivia night will be held this Saturday August 4 at 6pm for 6.30pm start. $10 per person with tables of 8. Individual entry welcome. Great prizes for winners. Bring your own nibbles or order beforehand at the restaurant when booking your tables.

Sunday badge draw will be $900 drawn between 5.30pm and 6.00pm. Must be in the club to win. Raffles will be drawn at 5.30pm with tickets on sale from 4.00pm. Friday badge draw will be $500. Club memberships for 2018-2019 are now due. Prompt payment would be appreciated.

WOMEN’S BOWLS

The final of the Club Fours Championship was played on Tuesday, 31st July. Nancy Morrow, Deanna Noble, Colleen Crump and Jo Davies defeated Linda Miller, Daph Bryant, Christine Pickard and Gwen Haydon 24-15. Congratulations to Nancy, Deanna, Colleen and Jo, the Fours Champions for 2018.

Three social games were played. Leanne Stevenson, Jeanette Wheeldon and Jill Messenger defeated Penny Nash, Jenny Middleton and Libby Balcombe 22-16. Marion Wilson and Joice McNaught had a 19 all draw against Jean Roth, Jenny Daly  and Dianne Mooney. Shirley Robson and Diane Slattery defeated Bobbie Turner and Liz Thornberry 18-17. The Lucky Draw was won by Jeanette Wheeldon with No. 15.

Matches drawn in the Handicap Pairs to be played on 7th August are; Joice McNaught and Jenny Middleton v Daph Bryant and Deanna Noble – Bobbie Turner and Nancy Morrow v Marion Wilson and Gwen Haydon – Liz Thornberry and Christine Pickard v Radka Tatterson and Jeanette Wheeldon.
