MEN’S BOWLS
Last Saturday two major singles matches were played. Brent Lees played Tony Tuimauga in a close scoring game. After 17 ends the scores were level at 12 all but after that Tony was able to stay in the lead winning 32-26. In the other match David Beath played Phil Lees in another close scoring game. After 28 ends the scores were 22-21 in favour of Phil. Phil won the last five ends winning the game 32-21.

Last Sunday a major pairs match was played with Alan Wyburn and Phil Lees against Brent Lees and David Beath. After 13 ends Brent and David had a handy lead 18-11 but on the next end Alan and Phil scored four shots. Brent and David were able to keep in the lead winning 23-21.

Saturday May 19 – Vinnie Mirto, Matthew Lawrence, Peter Taylor, Roger Traves, Phil and Brent Lees travel to Grenfell to compete in a section of the zone open pairs while Paul Markcrow, Tony Tuimauga, Steve Kirkman and Ian Nelder travel to Eugowra to compete in a section of the zone presidents pairs. Good luck to these players at the weekend.

Nominations are now open for the zone open singles, senior singles and presidents singles to be played on June 30 and July 1. Nominations will close on Friday June 15. A section of the presidents singles will be hosted by our club. Nominations for the major and minor fours and also the major and minor triples will close this Sunday May 20.

WOMEN’S BOWLS
Results of the No. 3 Pennant Play Offs competed for in Cowra on Monday and Tuesday 14th – 15th May. On Monday morning Canowindra defeated Orange City with an aggregate of 45-34, winning both rinks and scoring the maximum 5 points.

On Monday afternoon Gulgong defeated Canowindra with an aggregate of 42-29, Gulgong winning one rink and there was a 16 all draw on the other rink with Gulgong scoring 4.5 points and Canowindra half a afpoint. On Tuesday morning Nyngan defeated Canowindra with an aggregate of 52-30, winning both rinks and scoring the maximum 5 points.

The No. 3 Pennant Play Off winners were Nyngan with 10.5 points, second was Gulgong with 9 points and third Canowindra with 5.5 points.

The players and manager would like to sincerely thank our members who came to Cowra to support us, it was great.
