MEN’S BOWLS
Four teams of pairs and two teams of triples competed in twilight barefoot bowls last Friday night. The winners were Steve Kirkman, Julie Fairley and Tony Tuimauga while the runners up were Di Slattery and Crock Watt.

Last Saturday two matches of major singles were played. Steve Kirkman played Brian McClintock in a close scoring game with Steve winning 31-30. Brent Lees played Terry Mooney where Brent was always in control of the game winning 34-17.

Last Sunday a major singles match was played with Vinnie Mirto against Cyril Webb. This was a hard fought game with Cyril having the lead up to the second last end with the score 29-28. On the last end Vinnie scored three shots with a sigh of relief winning 31-29.

In a minor singles match Tony Tuimauga played Paul Markcrow in another close scoring game with Tony winning 32-28. A major pairs match was also played with Steve Kirkman and Ian Nelder against Zac Lees and Teddy Lawrence. Steve and Ian were able to hold a slender lead for most of the game winning 23-17.

Friday March 2 – Be sure to be at the club by 6.00pm if you wish to participate in the novelty event worth a jackpot in excess of $330. This will be follow by twilight barefoot bowls with names in by 6.00pm for 6.30pm start. One game of 15 ends with the entry fee being $21 per team. The scale of prize money will depend on the number of teams nominated.

Saturday March 3 – Minor Singles – M McMullen v R Lynch and Marker S Kirkman. G Fairley v N Delaney and Marker D Beath. T Fisher v L Nunn and Marker P Makin. G Burrows v B McClintock and Marker I Nelder. M Cramp v D Watt and Marker P Markcrow.

Sunday March 4 – First round of pennants – No 5’s play Narromine at home. Teams are A Wyburn, G Fairley, D Beath and R Traves. S Kirkman, A Robson, V Mirto and B Lees. G Burrows, P Markcrow, B Webb and M Lawrence. No 7’s play Grenfell at home. T Mooney, B McClintock, N Delaney and K Walker. C Webb, M McMullen, T Tuimauga and I Nelder. P Makin, D Watt, Z Lees and P Lees.

WOMEN’S BOWLS
Canowindra No. 4 Pennant played Forbes at home on Tuesday 27th February. Forbes defeated Canowindra with an aggregate of 48-40 each team winning one rink, Forbes scoring 4 points and Canowindra scoring one point.

Thanks to the ladies who supplied the tasty morning tea and Ellen Petty as Umpire. The Canowindra No. 4 Pennant Team will play Cowra at home on Tuesday 6th March and Canowindra No. 3 Pennant Team play Parkes at home on the same day.

Result of Major Singles – 2nd Round:
Colleen Crump defeated Betty Jenkins 25-9. Thanks to the marker Daph Bryant. One game of social pairs was played, Jeanette Wheeldon and Joyce Middleton defeated Linda Miller and Leanne Stevenson 29-18. The lucky draw was won by Gwen Haydon with No. 15 and Christine Pickard with No. 16.
