MEN’S BOWLS

Last Sunday the consistency singles final was played between Bruce Webb and David Beath. It was a hard fought match with David getting a handy lead a couple of times but then Bruce would come back to make the scores close. On the last few ends Bruce was able to get the upper hand to win the final 152-138.

A mixed pairs match was also played with Betty Jenkins and Roger Traves against Di Slattery and Steve Kirkman. Steve and Di led for most of the game until the second last end where the scores were level at 21 all. Betty and Roger won the last end to win the game 22-21.

Friday January 19 – Be sure to be at the club by 6.00pm if you wish to participate in the novelty event with the jackpot increasing. Twilight barefoot bowls will follow with names in by 6.00pm for 6.30pm start.

Saturday January 20 – No championship matches are drawn to be played but bowlers are welcome to come along and have a rollup.

Sunday January 21 – Mixed pairs – P Taylor and J Middleton v M Wright and G Haydon. B Webb and E Traves v M McMullen and M Wilson. Nominations are now called for the major and minor singles as well as the major and minor pairs.

Coming event – Anniversary tournament on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 January with the anniversary triples on Saturday and Ron Worboys Memorial Pairs on Sunday.

On both days be at the club by 9.00am for 9.30am start. Each competition will comprise of three games of 12 ends. Please arrange your teams and nominate for these events.

CANOWINDRA WOMEN’S BOWLS
We held a Fun Day sponsored by Shirley Robson on Tuesday, 16th January. The winners were Joyce Middleton, Ellen Petty and Jo
Davies. The Runners-up were Jenny Middleton, Moyna Rue and Deanna Noble.

The scores for all the teams who played were: Nancy Morrow, Diane Slattery and Janice Crump defeated Leanne Stevenson, Betty Jenkins and Sandy McDonald 17-10. Jenny Middleton, Moyna Rue and Deanna Noble defeated Marion Wilson, Dianne Mooney and Christine Pickard 18-11. Joyce Middleton, Ellen Petty and Jo Davies defeated Linda Miller, Jeanette Wheeldon and Libby Balcombe
20-12.

The Lucky Draw was won by Shirley Robson with No. 15. We have three of our members celebrating birthdays this month Nancy Morrow on 2nd and Libby Balcombe and Merlene Byrnes on 18th. A very happy birthday to you all.
