MEN’S BOWLS
Last Saturday a major pair’s game was played with Bruce and Cyril against Terry and Vinnie. The first part of the game was fairly even until Terry and Vinnie scored 13 on three ends to make the score 20- 8. From then on Bruce and Cyril could not bridge the gap and Terry and Vinnie
won 26-16. A minor pair’s game was also played with Tracey and Byrnsy against Steve and Ken.

Tracey and Byrnsy were in front 12-10 after 12 ends but in the second half of the game it went the way of Steve and Ken to win the game 20-17. In a major singles game between Jono Preston and Steve Kirkman, it was close for the first half of the game with Jono leading Steve 16-15 but after that Jono was able to get the upper hand to win 31-23.

On Sunday the fourth round of pennants was played with the No 4’s having their first defeat against Parkes 9-1 and with the No 7’s going down to Gooloogong 10-0. On Saturday 16th April a minor singles final will be held against K Fisher and P Kennedy, Marker I Nelder. Major singles- B Lees v B Webb, marker T Mooney.

On Sunday 17th April the fifth round of pennants will be held. No 4’s play at home to Caragabal. Teams are R Traves, D Beath, J Preston, P Taylor. B Webb, B Lees, C Webb, G Wilson. M Lawrence, V Mirto, M Wright, T Mooney. No 7’s play Parkes Railway at Parkes. Teams are M McMullen, K Walker, M Cramp, R Robson. I Nelder, S Kirkman, D Byrne, B Rose. N Delaney, P Kennedy, R Brooks, C Balcombe.

A bus will leave the club at 11am to take the No 7’s to Parkes. Nominations are still being called for consistency singles and the O’Brien Cup.

WOMEN’S BOWLS
The winner of the District Singles played in Cowra last week was Heather Hoad who defeated Colleen Crump 25-24. What a great singles final, a great day for our Canowindra Club! You both made your team mates very proud.

Result of one match played on Tuesday 12th April.
Major Singles – 2nd round: Margaret Gosper defeated Dianne Mooney. Thanks to the marker Gwen Haydon.

Three games of social bowls were played, three triples; Shirley Robson, Moyna Rue and Sandy McDonald defeated Daph Bryant, Daph Bryant and Betty Jenkins 19-9. Daph played lead and second. Bobbie Turner, Joice McNaught and Colleen Crump defeated Diane Slattery, Jill Messenger and Sheryn O’Malveney. Karen Cox, Ellen Petty and Christine Pickard defeated Linda Miller, Jenny Middleton and Nancy Morrow 16-12.

The Lucky Draw was won by Diane Slattery with No.27. Good bowling and success to the three
teams competing in the District Pairs and the three teams competing in the District Senior Pairs at Forbes from Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th April.
