MEN’S BOWLS

The Final of the Major Singles was played on Tuesday, 16th April. Gwen Haydon defeated Jo Davies 26-19. Congratulations Gwen the Major Singles Champion for 2019. Thanks to the marker Libby Balcombe. Three social games were also played. Shirley Robson, Diane Slattery & Colleen Crump defeated Pauline Carroll, Liz Thornberry & Sheryn O’Malveney. Linda Miller, Joice McNaught & Dianne Mooney defeated Jenny Daly, Daph Bryant & Sandy McDonald 19-18. Nancy Morrow, Jeanette Wheeldon & Betty Jenkins defeated Julie Wythes, Joyce Middleton & Jenny Middleton 22-14.

The Lucky Draw was won by Jenny Middleton with No. 28. The Points Score winner for March was Diane Slattery.

We have one member who celebrated a birthday this month, Marion Wilson on 14th. Happy birthday Marion. Congratulations to Bob & Shirley Robson who will be celebrating 67 years of marriage on Friday, 19th April.

MEN’S BOWLS

Tony Tuimauga and Paul Markcrow played Crock Watt and Larry Nunn in a Major Pairs match last Thursday where Tony and Paul had a comfortable win.
Last Saturday two Major Singles matches were played. Tony Tuimauga played Brent Lees where Brent was always in control of the game winning 32-14. Dool Beath played Phil Lees in a close scoring game with Dool scoring five shots in the last two ends winning the match 31-27.

A Major Pairs match was also played with Peter Taylor and Roger Traves against Ron Symons and Garry Fairley. This was another close scoring game with Roger and Peter leading 19-18 on the second last end. On the last end Ron and Garry scored three shots causing a boil over and winning the match 21-19.

Last Sunday a Major Fours match was played with Crock Watt, Tot Fisher, Westy Wyburn and Ian Nelder against Pat Kennedy, Peter Taylor, Dool Beath and Roger Traves. Roger’s team won the match 22-15.

Good Friday April 19 – Mixed mufti bowls with names in by 1.30pm for 2pm start.
Saturday April 20 – Major Singles – R Traves v B Lees and Marker T Tuimauga. Minor Pairs – N Delaney and P Markcrow v R Symons and G Fairley.
Sunday April 21 – Major Fours – V Mirto, T Tuimauga, P Markcrow and T Mooney v S Kirkman, B McClintock, B Webb and C Webb.

Nominations are now called for the Consistency Singles and O’Brien Cup.
