A wide range of sporting, cultural, arts and culinary events in Regional NSW will benefit from a funding boost from the NSW Government, after successfully applying for funding from the $500,000 available in the 2016 Regional Flagship Events Program.
Canowindra Balloon Challenge has been selected to receive triennial funding of $20,000 per year for three years, and this money will be used specifically to market the event. Destination NSW as part of their ongoing strategy has a plan to double the number of stays per night right across regional NSW.
Jan Kerr, responsible for Media Marketing, sponsorship and Grants for the Balloon Challenge said, “This grant shows that Destination NSW has confidence we are putting on a really good event, not only for the public attending, but also for the balloonists as well. The Challenge is a huge drawcard on the Canowindra calendar each year and was started for two
reasons; one to give balloonists an opportunity to fly in a competition to ensure that they can compete on the world stage, and the second reason was to bring people to Canowindra from which the whole community, retailers and district would benefit.”
Dale Jones, Cabonne Council Communications Manager said, ‘Cabonne Council are very pleased that Destination NSW are committing to support this event for the next 3 years!’ The event is taking place from the 9th to 14th April, after Easter, so save the date in your calendar now!
