Fire and Rescue NSW need to boost crew numbers in Canowindra and would love to hear from you. A firefighter role offers a rewarding, challenging and, would you believe it, a fun career.
You meet and train with great people, learn about helping your community, gain new skills and succeed in personal development opportunities. Fire and Rescue NSW trains its employees in vital skills that are nationally accredited such as basic life support, working at heights, confined space and chainsaw use, it’s not just about firefighting.
Applicants need to be over 18 years old, have a moderate level of fitness and have some availability to respond to calls outside of their primary work commitments, unless your workplace is awesome enough to let you respond during work hours.
Some of the commonly asked questions are;
How fit do I need to be? In order to be able to pass our Physical Aptitude Test you will need to have a moderate level of fitness. If you are worried about the fitness test, there are videos online of the types of activities you will need to complete.
How much availability do I need to give? As much as you can. However, we all have lives, family and work commitments. The beauty of getting a full crew at the station means that we all get to share the workload. The role and requirements are flexible.
The process of application involves submitting an application followed by an interview, a medical clearance, a physical aptitude test and training, eight days in total or split over two blocks of four days.
If you have thought about it but are hesitant to take that first step, a message or call
