Calling All Canowindra And Cudal Graziers

28 August, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Local Land Services are calling for expressions of interest from local graziers to participate in a PROGRAZE™ course.

NSW Local Land Services are currently seeking expressions of interest for a PROGRAZE™ course starting October in the Canowindra/Cudal area.

PROGRAZE™ is a recognised, industryleading training course based on scientifically proven principles of pasture and livestock production. A key focus is the development of skills in pasture and animal assessment that will improve the productivity and sustainability of grazing systems.

The course is run by experts with a focus on practical applications. PROGRAZE™ workshops offer hands on learning and skill development with practical on-farm, in paddock learning.

The course is aimed at landholders that manage livestock (sheep and/or cattle). It takes place over eight sessions, approximately five hours each, on-farm over 8 – 10 months. Participants visit different farms, allowing for the opportunity to learn from and with your peers.

PROGRAZE™ will help farmers to:

• visually assess pasture

• understand how pasture quality & quantity impact animal production

• match pastures to livestock requirements

• fat score livestock

• use grazing management to improve productivity & sustainability of pastures

• use grazing management to help control worms.

The total cost is $300 per business, with up to 3 participants per business.

If you would like to participate in the next ProGraze course, simply complete the expression of interest form online at https://regionalnsw.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7aJFVRvk8095YVMNSW Local Land Services will organise groups based on locality and will contact those involved when dates are organised.
