Cafe Chat…Jam, Jellies and Everything Else!

Greentrees Gourmet Preserves has been operating since January, 1994. They started due to the faith the local Visitors Centre had in their products. The preserves were originally sampled by guests staying at the Greentrees Guesthouse, who then suggested the maker create more preserves to sell at the Visitors Market. Following some government approvals, production commenced for the fruit season of 1994.
Since then, the way the preserves are made hasn’t changed. Everything is created the old fashioned way, by hand, with fine quality local and regional fruits. Gourmet Greentrees Preserves now offers 26 varieties of jam, 6 marmalades, 4 jellies, 15 condiments and 10 varieties of bottled fruits including cherries and figs. Plenty of options to spread on your toast! Greentrees Gourmet Preserves have an air of nostalgia, taking you back to Grandma’s time where fruit picked from the garden and sealed in glass jars. The results are gorgeous to look at and delicious to eat. The preserves are available at the Orange Farmers’ Market on the second Saturday of each month and at various produce events. They are also now stocked at our local IGA on Gaskill Street! Greentrees Gourmet Preserves are a perfect accompaniment to a breakfast, picnic feast or just a sweet treat to nibble on a lazy afternoon.
We all have to eat, so why not eat well? That’s the message this week at Simply Nile. Manager Frank and Chef Mick are conjuring up delicious seasonal menu choices including Fried John Dory with Cauliflower Puree, Ricotta Tortellini and Tomato Gremolata Salad, yum! With the usual cakes and coffees on offer, you’d be mad to miss out on a lunch under an umbrella in their beautiful garden.
Café Latte is drawing inspiration from their new French chef, David Mansart by throwing a French Theme Night at the end of October. The date is yet to be announced, but the night is sure to be filled with sophisticated French food, fancy dress and some other surprises. Before the ooh la la begins, why not come into the café on Summer Street and sample one of their tasty cakes including gluten free options such as Charlotte Alaska (mint mousse and chocolate ganache)? They’re now also open from 6am weekdays for all you early birds craving a coffee fix!
Eat Your Greens are a function centre in Eugowra that specialise in weddings. They also, however, offer a delicious range of menu featuring all kinds of foods from sushi to steak. If you’re planning a function for your work or a birthday lunch, this is the perfect place for you. A sample of one of their menus include tea and coffee available all day, morning tea and a lunch or lasagne or chicken Caesar salad and thai beef salad. All meals accompanied with missed toss salad, brown rice and cashew nut salad, chat potatoes and sour cream plus a bread roll. For your own private party with excellent food and beautiful scenery, it’s a steal. For more information on what Eat Your Greens has to offer check out their website on www.eatyourgreens.com.au
